About BCUEDA

Bridging the Gaps for Small Business

The BC Urban Entrepreneur Development Association's mandate continues to evolve.  Through the development of new local business partnerships, BCUEDA has created a stronger more comprehensive vision that connects businesses to resources and tools needed for implementation, growth and sustainability.

This new approach called the Five Pillars of Success, identifies and addresses the roles and relationships of all major business organizations with their respective clients. This process allows new entrepreneurs, as well as current business owners and professionals, to find benchmarks to clearly identify and analyze the barriers to success in their vision, mission and day to day business operations.

BCUEDA has worked hard to solidify the assessment and viability of a business idea, and the development and implementation of a strong business plan. Over the past nine years recognition through the Inspiration Awards event has also been a huge success. One of the gaps identified by many of our new entrepreneurs and small business owners is the need to deal with ongoing problems and challenges with limited resources in information, advising and mentoring. Not anymore.

Our new Inspiring Business Partnerships now connects everyone. In July 2006, BCUEDA has now partnered with the key business organizations in the lower mainland to become the premier facilitator of business training, from start-up through sustainability. Relationships include; SOHO, SUCCESS, local Chambers of Commerce, Community Economic Development Managers, municipal and provincial government, Tech Vibes, Vancouver Chapters of BNI and Entrepreneur Meet-up, Adult Learning Centres and 25 local business experts who assist in development and facilitation.

These new partnerships will:

  • Expand the network to include all businesses in the lower mainland

  • Increase the accessible number of participants in the network to 12,000 and growing

  • Create a framework or "blueprint" to ensure business viability and success

  • Build each business' network base and assist them with market expansion

  • Explore and address multi-lingual and cultural business issues

  • Offer specific personal and business development workshops

  • Launch a market specific online newsletter

  • Market a comprehensive events calendar into 2007

  • Sponsor networking events all over the lower mainland

  • Track industry and business needs through confidential surveys

  • Manage research and follow trends to assist in future business planning for clients

  • Connect new entrepreneurs to mentors

  • Develop a business incubator system
